Today Hollywood is in Hamburg! Emma Stone is here and because Filmfest means diversity, we also show films from Russia, Spain, Lebanon, Tunisia, Sweden, Iceland, Greece, China, Paraguay…

Before Filmfest comes to an end on Saturday, we have rolled out the red carpets one more time for our guests from Hollywood: Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and director Tate Taylor are in town to present their hit The Help which led the US-box-office for weeks, before switching places with Soderbergh’s “Contagion” (also in our program).
We also have the German stars at the Passage: Jan Josef Liefers, Katharina Schüttler and Lisa Ohlin presenting the Swedish-German coproduction Simon.

Alexandra Strelyanya is from Hamburg’s partner-city St. Petersburg and shows her debut The Dry Valley tonight. French-Tunisian director Nadia El Fani is facing the question “Who’s in power?” in her movie Neither Allah, Nor Master Lebanese director Samer Daboul brings us the first film from Lebanon with a homosexual topic – “Out Loud“.

Alberto Morais is visiting for the second time. In 2007 we showed „A Place in the Cinema“, today it’s his feature debut The Waves. "Island Deluxe" has a true rarity today: Iceland meets Hamburg in Maria. Barbara Auer and Monica Bleibtreu are acting in this 1997 film.

Oh, by the way: ByteFM’s DJs are presenting icelandic sounds in the festival center at the Abaton.
