Last Chances

Hamburg, Okt. 08th 2011
Our children’s and youth festival Michel is saying farewell today at 3pm – and giving out the award for best children’s. film That promises just as much excitement as Michel’s closing film Secret Letters!

The awards of the 19th Filmfest Hamburg will be received at the Closing-gala at 8pm. Foreign and German Filmcritics have argued and agreed, the representatives of the European Theater Owners (CICAE), the Montblanc-Script-Jury, the Häagen-Dazs-audience-award – everyone has selected their award winners. Most of the winners will be at the CinemaxX to receive their awards in person. And our beautiful closing film is another pearl of quebecoise cinema: Monsieur Lazhar. Another proof of the great cineastic tradition which produced films like „Incendies“ or „Continental, a Film Without Guns“. Director Philippe Falardeau is our guest tonight.

But the last day of Filmfest has a lot more to offer: most of the hits of the past ten days are shown again! Bill Cunningham, Restless, This Is Not a Film, King of Devil's Island, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia. And there are also some directors still in town: Simon Kaijser da Silva with his Sirkian melodrama Stockholm East and Xiaolou Guo is still here to present her film Ufo in her Eyes.

Thank you all for the wonderful time! From all the directors and Filmfest guests. And of course from our whole team!
