This is the new motto that Filmfest Hamburg uses to raise financial support. Companies as well as individuals can ‘adopt’ a film of their choice at the festival by making a donation of 1000 Euros, which is tax-deductible. By request, their names or company logos will be printed in the programme along with the abstract of the selected film. Furthermore, sponsors will be mentioned in the respective opening speech in the movie theatre if they want to.

The TV Producers Prize, donated by the Department for Culture, Sports and Media, was awarded tonight within the framework of a senate reception hosted by Literaturhaus Hamburg. This year, the prize goes to the producer Claudia Schröder of Bremedia Produktion GmbH, for the film “Mörder auf Amrum” (director: Markus Imboden), commissioned by ZDF.

A special and new Filmfest-Award was handed over to director and scriptwriter Lars Becker for his loyalty to and constancy at Filmfest Hamburg. Filmfest director Albert Wiederspiel surprised Lars Becker with the so called 'Filmfest-Cutlery' by Robbe und Berking yesterday at the premiere of "Nachtschicht: Wir sind die Polizei!".

The “Green Movement” at the 17th Filmfest Hamburg came into being at a morning-after breakfast at Strandperle on Monday, hosted for the first time by Studio Hamburg and Filmfest for guests, Studio Hamburg “House of Young Producers” stipend holders and nominees of the 2009 Studio Hamburg Young Talents Awards. Paris-based Sepideh Farsi convinced all of the morning-after breakfast guests of giving their spontaneous support and handed every guest a symbolic green scarf.

From 24th September to 3rd October 2009 the 17th Filmfest Hamburg focuses in on films treating the topic of “Vibrant Metropolises”. Claus Friede, the curator of the Focus’ section, says that the selection of 13 international feature and documentary films presents: “metropolises of extreme contrasts. The films contain social criticism, deal with radical strategies of survival, and depict breathless hypermodernity alongside urban traditions that have developed over centuries.”
