Hamburg, Okt. 07th 2011
The thriller “Tödlicher Rausch” (director: Johannes Fabrick, Script writer: Claudia Kaufmann) was shown at Filmfest Hamburg in section “16:9 Television in cinema”.
Ulrich Aselmann, CEO of “die film GmbH”, Munich, produced the movie by order of the ZDF. Editor was Karina Ulitzsch. Eleven films were in the competition. The jury consisted of the journalist Andrea Kaiser, cutter Eva Schnare and director Hajo Gies. Among the reasons cited: “Johannes Fabrick’s movie is stunningly modest. He took up the serious subject of binge drinking among young people. But he did not boast saying “See, I have here a social relevant subject and I want to win a prize.” “Tödlicher Rausch” is very modest. And that is its strength. It simply acts. And it appears simple. It convinces. That is art.”
The awarding of the TV producer award 2011 took place during a senate reception in the Literaturhaus Hamburg. The prize money of € 30.000 is provided each year by the cultural authority and was presented by the State Councilor Dr. Nikolas Hill to Ulrich Aselmann. His words of thanks: “ I really didn’t expect this, but as a Hamburg citizen who studied at the HfBK and just showed two films this year at the Filmfest Hamburg – the other being “Dreiviertelmond” with Elmar Wepper in the key role –this award is a special honour for me.“
The plot of the film is as follows: 17-year old Florian is found dead along the road after a village fair in the Bavarian province. The conclusion of the investigators is that he just had too much alcohol and they close the file. Florian’s sister Nina, played by Lisa Maria Potthoff, does not believe this. At the beginning, she encounteres a wall of silence but bit by bit she learns that the village policeman of all people was one of the last in the pub with Florian, having a drinking competition. This movie will be shown on ZDF in December.
Festival director Albert Wiederspiel was pleased to once more present an award to a TV-producer. He said: “Within Filmfest Hamburg our TV section is only a small one, but it is responsible for the biggest branch meeting. Almost all actors, directors and script writers come to each film. They get to know each other and are interacting. That is what it makes important.”
The award is presented each year to a TV producer. It does not matter where in Germany he comes from. It is only important that the money is spent within two years in Hamburg.
