In 2005 Mohammad Rasoulof won the Hamburg Film Critic’s Award for his film “Iron Island”. This time he presents a visually impressive fairy tale: an old tear collector rows across a salt lake, from one village to the next, to collect people’s sorrows and sins and bottles them in phials. The tragedies and remorse of his clients do not touch him. Even the boy who stows away on his ship to search his father on the other side of the lake leaves him cold. Until he falls into the lake… A metaphorical journey through white salt landscapes and human fates.
